  • 1 tbsp ground ginger
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 85 g unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 120 g maple syrup

Royal icing

  • 300 g caster sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • ¼ tsp lemon juice

Assembly

  • 50 - 80 g breakfast cereals (oatmeal squares), for decorating (optional)
  • 10 - 15 multi-coloured button-shaped chocolates, for decorating (optional)
